| Soccer camp moved to Phillips Park
With their unique approach in teaching the game, the Brasilian Summer Soccer Camps have become one of the best in the midwest. Players from ages 4-18 and all skill levels are challenged daily in all aspects of the game, with emphasis on technique. From the first day and throughout the camp, all players are going to be challenged accordingly. Trained instructors have more than 20 years of experience in the game playing and coaching at all levels, from professional, college and high school. Camp instructors also have many years of professional playing experience internationally. The camp will also offer goalkeeper training for all ages and skill levels from coaches specializing in the Goalkeeper Program. The first 400 campers will a special edition Brasilian Soccer Camp Ball and T-shirt.
Wins in water polo, basketball and soccer for Canada at University
Canada's women's soccer team blanked Poland 3-0, while the Canadians recorded a straight-set victory over Slovenia in men's volleyball. BE's Halmon is T&D's All-Area soccer play of the year
His first start turned out to be the foundation of his high school soccer career as he ultimately built off of that experience. Over time, he sharpened his skills to become one of the best goalkeepers in the state and the 2009 Times and Democrat Soccer Player of the Year.Halmon, the Red Raiders’ most valuable player, didn’t originally have an interest in soccer. In fact, he played basketball almost as far back as he could remember. Halmon, who was a fan on NBA legend Michael Jordan, played on the junior varsity team and had dreams of going pro. That was until a few of his friends convinced him to give soccer a try and he made his way on to the B-E varsity squad during his junior year where he started out as a defender. After a few games and a few more practices, Halmon was moved from defender to goalie.
