Dirty play at Swamp Soccer tournament

"There is a huge appetite to try out new things and I think that's why Swamp Soccer is able to capture the imagination of people.

"The basic rules of football also apply to Swamp Soccer with the exception that matches are played in thick mud with six players on an oversized five-a-side pitch.

"It's probably one of the only sports in the world where the worse the conditions are the better the sporting spectacle!"

There is no offside in Swamp Soccer while kick-offs, throw-ins, corner kicks, free kicks and penalties are taken by using the hands to drop the ball onto a chosen foot.

Teams are also allowed to make unlimited substitutions although no shoe changing is allowed for the match duration.

Miller believes that the oft-used quote that the state of a pitch can bridge the gap between two unevenly match teams is even more applicable with Swamp Soccer.

Mark 'The Ear' Oberhardt gives the lowdown on sport

And it isn't just league as local Aussie rules and soccer (which, like league, are semi-professional) report crowds are at best holding. Meanwhile, reader "P B" agreed Brisbane schoolboy rugby games drew 5000 to 10,000 but also pointed out it was a similar case in Sydney.

FOLLOWING several recent The Ear stories about TAB agents the mailbox overflowed with praise for them. But we really liked these two stories. The first regarded the collapse of a patron where the agent performed CPR for a long period until a medical team arrived. But our winner was when a senior punter experienced a wardrobe malfunction and he needed the agent to hold "personal items" while his trousers were removed to extract a wallet that was "cast" during an exciting moment!

ALSO in the mail was a nice story from a Logan dad whose daughter plays softball and is fundraising for the rep season.

Cowra Junior Soccer

Leaving the responsibility of your child to another adult can cause difficulties regarding our Child Protection laws which state: Cowra and District Soccer Club is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and well-being of children and young people is maintained at all times during their participation in activities run by C&DSC.

All involved are reminded of the Codes of Conduct for all spectators, players, coaches and officials that we expect you to abide by at all times. These are included in our competition rules on cowrasoccer.org.au and placed in each team kit at the beginning of May and playbytherules.net.au is an excellent website. If you become aware of conduct that diminishes the enjoyment and comfort of others, please make a club official aware as soon as possible.

Just a few coaches have yet to return their completed Prohibited Employment Declaration, so please do so tomorrow.
