| McDonald named soccer coach at McMinn
David McDonald, the assistant coach for McMinn County High School soccer for the last four years, has been named the head coach for both the boys' and girls' soccer teams. He takes over for long time coach Bobby Earls, who resigned last month. McMinn County Principal John Burroughs and Athletic Director Jimmy Haynie both recommended McDonald and McMinn County Director of Schools David Pierce has given his approval. McDonald teaches at Calhoun Elementary and will remain there while coaching at McMinnn. He is originally from Texas and played four years of soccer at Tennessee Wesleyan College before graduating from TWC in 1998. McDonald, 35, has a lengthy career as competitive soccer coach and was also an assistant coach under Bill McConkey at McMinn Central for a few years. "I'm extremely excited about the opportunity and want to continue the tradition of success established here at McMinn," McDonald said.
