Call for national ban on scalping
Football Federation Australia, soccer's ruling body, says it is time to stamp out the practice that has become a significant problem for all sporting codes. "We support the introduction of legislation that prohibits the practice of scalping because, as the governing body of the code, you don't like to see your fans being exploited," the federation's John O'Sullivan told The Sunday Age. "There is an argument for a consistent approach across the country to scalping. It is becoming more and more of an issue for every sport." Cricket Australia's Peter Young said scalping needed to be stamped out. "It's a shame scalping has become such big business," he said. "The internet has seen a second coming of this toxic touting problem." National Rugby League's John Brady said the code supported a blanket ban on scalping.
