The Michigan Bucks played perhaps their best 45 minutes of soccer all season long with their backs against the wall on Wednesday night, as they spotted the Cleveland Internationals an early 2-0 lead before battling back with three unanswered second half goals to come away victorious with a 3-2 Premier Development League win.

Local Hopes Up for Fling

The Spring Fling is a weeklong Olympic-style set of championships in baseball, soccer, softball, tennis and track and field. The event has brought in more than $3.5 million annually to Murfreesboro's economy, and Smith projects the Fling would be worth more than $5 million to Chattanooga.

"You're looking at around 4,300 athletes, and we've projected an additional two people per athlete spending about $100 a day," Smith said. "It would be a very big boost for our city."

The TSSAA required a minimum bid of $225,000, and each city's game sites will be gauged before the board's vote. Included in Chattanooga's bid will be 12 area baseball fields -- eight that would be used for games. Those include AT&T Field for all championship games, the Chattanooga State and Lee University stadiums and high school fields at Baylor, Hixson, Ooltewah, Red Bank, Soddy-Daisy, Bradley Central, Cleveland High and Walker Valley.

Sports in Brief: US routs Grenada in soccer opener

The United States returned home from the FIFA Confederations Cup and routed Grenada, 4-0, with a young lineup last night in Seattle as it opened its title defense in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the regional championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean.

Freddy Adu scored the first goal in the seventh minute, and Stuart Holden doubled the lead in the 31st, both on feeds from Robbie Rogers.

Earlier, Carlo Costly headed in a free kick by Walter Martinez in the 76th minute, helping Honduras open group play with a 1-0 win over Haiti.

Boxing Philadelphian Eddie Chambers will be the next WBO challenger for world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Chambers (35-1, 18 knockouts) outpointed the WBO's No. 1-ranked Alexander Dimitrenko (29-1, 19K's) over 12 rounds in a World Boxing Organization eliminator at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
