They have worked hard to improve their fitness, conditioning and soccer skills. Participation in the Albion Cup has been a goal for the players and they are committed to work as a unit to find success. If you win the Albion Cup, it will be because: If Onipaa wins the Albion Cup, it will be because each player gives a 110 percent effort toward her soccer sisters' success. There are no superstars, just soccer sisters working together, competing and enjoying the beautiful game. Success comes naturally when you can depend on your fellow players, contribute toward the effort and play with joy! Onipaa is more than a soccer team, it is an "ohana," a family. .


Recreation location: Challenger Sports British Soccer Summer Camp

Students learn from former or current professional soccer players from the United Kingdom. The program, based in Lenexa, Kan., was founded by a former professional British soccer player. They now hold camps all over the country. This is the second year the camp has come to Springfield.

Where: Lake Country Soccer, 2334 Pythian St.

Dates: July 27-31

Time: Varies depending on age group, but all times are between 9 a.m.-noon or 5 p.m.-8 p.m. each day.

Who it's for: Boys and girls between the ages of 3-16.

Cost: Varies depending on age and skill set, between $78-$150.

Westfield soccer tournament to benefit children's hospital

When Myron Vaughn took over as Westfield High School boys soccer coach two years ago, he began thinking of a way he and his team could give back to the community.

Next weekend, the Shamrocks will host the first Shamrock Charity Challenge. Proceeds will benefit Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent.
